Fender squire dating

According to Fender, any guitar made in US was labeled as such and no Squire IIs were made in US. This guitar looks well made, and it is heavy (heavier than my 1979 Fender lead II which is made of ash which is heavier than alder... Don't know if anyone is still looking at these posts but I just bought a Squire II with 12/89 on the QA stamp and serial number NO 15534 on the sticker at base of neck. My research has led to perhaps the guitar was made in India. A QA hand written with someones initials and the date 2/90. The guy who sold me the guitar said that the Mexican and Indian(limited numbers made in India according to him) were made with american parts. Some say they were excellent; some say they were absolute rubbish.

There were periods of time when this was not consistently done, (between 19), and there are certainly other examples of short periods of time, and individual pieces, where the dating was simply omitted.Neck dating is useful in determining the age of a guitar, but is not definite. To learn more about Amazon Sponsored Products, click here. They have been placed at the top of the neck plate, on the front of the headstock, on the back of the headstock, and on the back of the neck near where the neck bolts onto the body.

and both were being made at the same time from 1994 till 1997.

This means that the the serial numbers starting in 1994 ran consecutively on both the MIJ and the CIJ models while the MIJ logo was being phased out.

Any idea if there is a serial number somewhere on the guitar?

Either way, enjoy that SOB cuz those things can be fun! Mine says it was made in India, but I can't find a serial number.
